Melissa Lopez-Barbosa
Computing and Cybersecurity, New Mexico Administrative Office of the Courts
Melissa Lopez-Barbosa has a master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Leadership and, having earned a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Management specializing in cybersecurity, strives to become a cybersecurity leader. Holding over three years of experience in the field, her knowledge and skills, supported by her drive and determination, earned the trust of campus leadership and enabled her, as a student, to work on a campus-wide comprehensive cybersecurity initiative, making Central Washington University’s network more secure by rolling out Multi-Factor Authentication on more than 24,000 student accounts. The success of this project led to her inclusion in developing an identity and access management solution for Central Washington University. As a William O. Douglas Honors College student, she finalized an 18-month project on enhancing a national cybersecurity survey and presented her findings at the 2024 Western Regional Honors Council Conference; these findings are now a current practice of the Office of Information Security at Central Washington University.
She is a member of the NobleReach Scholars 2025 Cohort in the Computing & Cybersecurity domain and serves as a Cyber Scholar for the New Mexico Administrative Office of the Courts.
