Ian Ryu
Director, Technology Development, Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures
Ian Ryu is the Director, Technology Development at Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, where he helps facilitate the translation and commercialization of discoveries into accessible technologies, produces and services that benefit society. Previously, he was the head of Technology Partnerships at FedTech, where he lead their practice in technology scouting, partnerships for startup studios, and strategic engagements in technology transfer. Ian joined FedTech in 2019 as the third team member and built sustainable partnerships with multiple U.S. federal agencies to commercialize technologies for economic impact and public benefit. Prior to joining FedTech, Ian worked on numerous cutting-edge scientific research projects ranging from quantum biology to biomanufacturing at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Ian holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California – Berkeley, USA, and a bachelor’s degree from Korea University, Korea.
