Derick Mejia Torres holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Affairs from Wake Forest University. He is a social impact leader and strategic operator with experience designing programs, managing teams, and building organizational systems that create meaningful opportunities for youth impacted by immigration and the criminal legal system. At ALAS, he has led the ASPIRE Fellowship, developed operational and data infrastructure, mentored emerging youth leaders, and secured over $300K in grants to scale programs and drive measurable community impact, honing his expertise in translating complex social challenges into actionable, scalable solutions and advising on policy and organizational strategy. He aspires to advance policies and systems that increase equity and opportunity for marginalized communities.
He is a member of the NobleReach Scholars 2026 Cohort and serves as a DEC Financial Systems Scholar at Maryland’s Department of Education.
