Benjamin Schwartz

Benjamin Schwartz serves as Managing Head of Infrastructure Partnerships at OpenAI, bringing over two decades of distinguished public service and private sector leadership. A graduate of Swarthmore College with a BA in Political Science and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies with a Master’s degree, Schwartz combines academic rigor with extensive practical experience.
Prior to OpenAI, Schwartz served as Director of National Security and Lead of the CHIPS Program Office’s National Security Division at the U.S. Department of Commerce. His career includes seven years at the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where he held senior roles directing policy for India, South China Sea, Singapore, and Brunei, and served as advisor for special operations and combating terrorism. He spent nearly four years at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as Executive Director of the Defense and Aerospace Council and Senior Director for Defense and Aerospace for the U.S.-India Business Council.
As a Presidential Management Fellow, Schwartz began his career at the Department of Energy and State Department, authoring intelligence reports including Presidential Daily Briefs. A published author and media contributor, he brings unparalleled expertise in technology partnerships, national security, and strategic communications to AI infrastructure development.
